Musical Theatre Class
The musical threatre class at STUDIO 19 Centre for Performing Arts intends that our students learn to act, apply voice and movement in performance, sing and dance individually and in groups.
They will also develop a repertoire of songs and dance routines suitable for auditions. And they are mainly taught on how to work safely and cooperatively and use effective communication skills.
This musical theatre class is designed to develop creative music theatre performers, sufficiently flexible to contribute to the changing needs of the artistic community and to be creative leaders who can generate, develop and perform new work.
Students will sample a range of creative art forms to widen their knowledge of the performing arts and equip them with an assortment of ‘goodies’ to enhance their personal & professional skills.
Our methods are based on a holistic approach whereby each student is guided towards developing creative, personal and professional levels of the highest individual standard, within a supportive environment
Students of the musical theatre class will study:
- The relationship between music, movement and drama/text.
- Investigate the role of the performing artist as re-creator and creator.
It is also important for these students to learn the importance of imagination in self-devised material relevant to cabaret, club and related entertainment opportunities.
Our diverse population is made up of beginning students with little or no experience in the Performing Arts as well as students who have had previous stage experience.
